  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans (for topping)
  • 1 1/2 cups very hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In another bowl, mix pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter (or vegetable oil), and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients to form a thick batter; pour into an 8-inch casserole dish.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, and chopped pecans; sprinkle over the batter.
  6. Carefully pour hot water over the mixture without stirring.
